Well, well, demonstrations against cartoons are OK. So let us stick our REAL issues in, using the cartoons as a vehicle. The Pakistani demonstrations illustrate this very clearly.

In countries where demonstrations are not allowed, the cartoons are a convenient excuse. So, the dictatorships and authoritarian countries that let the demonstrations happen risk that they will backfire, and so there is a chance that the same regimes will be the ones to stop them.
