One of my favourite cartoons is 9 Chickweed Lane. The September 23 strip startled me with the following ‘quote’ from Thorax (one of the odd characters of Chickweed Lane):

Running away is the coward’s way out of war.

Appeasement is the coward’s way into one.

This so aptly captures much of contemporary politics, e.g. from the EU, when it comes to islamistic and other totalitarian threats.

I have not found it in my books of quotations, nor on Google. Is it original? If so, it is a new classic.
