Yes, the blog lives again. Writing in English mostly for reasons of keyboard…

Saturday the 15th of February I started my trip to Thailand - my first!

Thai Airways is an excellent airline, and the staff att the Koh Phangan travel bureau were very helpful indeed in arranging a ticket on short notice. Price levels were hig because of the Chinese New Year, according to my brother.

Speaking of whom I visited in his part time home in Nakhon Sawan. This is the only province which is NOT covered by the otherwise so fully equipped Lonely Planet.

The beginning turned sour though, as a I came down with the influenza immediately on arrival. Four days with very limited movement.

Eventually, the temperature fell (my own that is), and I continued further north to Chiang Mai. Temples, markets, and tailor made clothes dominated. Also some senate elections drained the city of alcoholic beverages for some days. This is no worry, since the Thai food is excellently accompanied by green tea, whenever avaialble.

Further to the north is Chaing Rai, and the Golden Triangle. Gazing over the border and seeing Burma, Laos, and Thailand at the same time is thrilling. The commerce at the foot of the mountain is not…

Tonight, a VIP bus will take me the 11 hours to Bangkok, where I will have a few days before boarding the plane back home.

More details in later posts, hopefully with photos!
